Omak Invite 10/06/2021

 Omak Invite – 10/06/2021

Course Length – 1.55 miles

General Notes – The course was very flat, with 2 short hills. Most of the course runs on dirt and grass, with a handful of pavement crossings. After running past the stadium, the course rises up on the levee briefly, then drops down and tours the outside of the park. Next, the course loops back near the start line and proceeds to the levee again. Finally, the course drops off of the levee and then loops out and back on a grassy section into the finish. The schools that attended were predominantly from Okanogan County. At race time, the weather was sunny in the low 60's.

The girls won with 35 points. 2nd place went to Omak with 39 points. There were 3 teams and 25 athletes in the race.

The boys were 2nd with 48 points. Okanogan won with 28 points. There were 4 teams and 42 athletes in the race.

Posey – One mile: 7:02. Finish: 11:00, 3rd place. Average: 7:05.

What a great race! You looked super confident going out and had a blazing fast mile time. Then, you were able to hold on to your pace despite spending a lot of time running on your own. That just shows how tough you are. Having people to chase seemed to help you stay motivated. Keep it up!

Ava – One mile: 7:49. Finish: 11:52, 7th place. Average: 7:39.

Take one look at your mile split and your average and it's clear: you really put on the heat late in the race! You went out at your normal pace, but that meant you had all sorts of gas in the tank to speed things up later on. You had to hold off a late charge there, but way to run all the way through the line!

Yasmin – One mile: 8:03. Finish: 12:21, 11th  place. Average: 7:58.

Nice job going out strong, with your fastest mile split, and then digging deep late in the race! You were running near teammates a good portion of the race which is great. The next step is to get right up with your teammates. That will keep you motivated. What a show!

Juniper – One mile: 8:10. Finish: 12:39, 13th place. Average: 8:09.

You went out pretty quick and then held on later in the race. Your consistency is a big reason why you run so well! You didn't have a lot of teammates with you, but that's ok, because you found your pace. Keep looking up and finding the next person to run with!

Alida – One mile: 8:29. Finish: 12:51, 16th place. Average: 8:17.

Two words: FAST MILE! Not only did you have your fastest mile split, but you managed to speed up even more in the last half mile of the race. That's truly incredible! Running with Dylan got you out to a great start, but way to find that extra bit of drive when you needed it!

Keller – One mile: 6:42. Finish: 10:19, 14th place. Average: 6:39.

You did a fantastic job at going out at your own pace and then picking it up throughout the race. It was a very fast course so that shows a lot of focus! As we get further into the season, it’s great to hear you reflecting on your races and thinking of goals for the next. I think that you ran really well, with your fastest first mile split yet!

Hugo – One mile: 7:12. Finish: 11:09, 21st place. Average: 7:11.

Nice job Hugo! You stayed very consistent during this race! Your first mile split being pretty much the same as your average pace means that you did an amazing job of running your race and staying calm in the excitement that can happen at the start. I think it’s great that you want to improve on this because it shows you are getting stronger with each race!

Wyatt – One mile: 7:37. Finish: 11:23, 24th place. Average: 7:20.

What a race! You went out fairly conservatively which meant that you had lots left to give for that second half of the race and were able to pass quite a few people. I think you are completely capable of going out a little faster and keeping a steady pace throughout. Lastly, it was awesome to see you having fun! Seeing your positivity at the end was inspiring!

Marcel – One mile: 8:00. Finish: 11:52, 30th place. Average: 7:39.

Wow! Your overall average pace was a lot faster than your first mile split! You kept moving up through the race. Plus you found the drive and motivation to compete with those around you, all the way through to a very strong finish. You looked calm throughout this race and I think you are ready to go out a little faster next time! Way to work hard!

Dylan – One mile: 8:29. Finish: 13:04, 36th place. Average: 8:25.

You did an awesome job of running with your teammates during this race. And you ran a very steady pace on a flat, fast course which shows that you were calm and smart throughout. I think that you are learning and getting stronger at each race and that you definitely can start your kick sooner at the next race. Great work!
